Spain aims to regulate cryptocurrency advertising in its territory

The Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) opened a period in which it will receive comments from professionals in the sector, consumers and investors, in order to achieve better regulation of cryptocurrency advertising in Spain. The regulation issued by this entity must focus on those massive campaigns directed at the general public, in accordance with the provisions of Criptonoticias.

In this sense, the CNMV enabled an email where all participants can send their comments until April 16 of this year. Likewise, the CNMV has indicated that there will be exceptions to the rule for some professional activities such as the now very popular fungible tokens (NFT) or those that are used exclusively as a means of payment.

Indeed, the regulatory action of the CNMV is limited to those advertising actions on crypto assets, when these are offered to the public as an investment, and objective information about the product and its risks, such as price volatility, is not recorded. losses due to cyberattacks or failures in custody, in accordance with the provisions of the aforementioned portal.
