BNP Paribas dabbles in smart contracts

French giant BNP Paribas Securities Services announced that it has decided to have its securities division partner with Digital asset, with the aim that they can develop trading and settlement applications in real time using smart contracts based on DAML, as indicated by the portal monovision.

According to the aforementioned portal, DAML-based applications will connect with trading and settlement platforms based on Distributed Ledger (DLT) of the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), among others.

According to the portal Cointelegraph, the DALM smart contract language has been increasing its level of implementation within the main blockchain initiatives globally. Among the most significant cases are 1) China's national blockchain project and 2) the issuance of the first digital bond powered by DAML by the Singapore Exchange, a major Singapore investment holding company.
